Do you think of sushi when you are asked about Japanese cuisine?
This is no surprise, because rice is the main staple in Japan, which is used individually or as an ingredient for a variety of national Japanese dishes and even desserts. At our culinary master classes we will unlock the secrets of sushi and roll making, introducing you to one of the most mysterious and elegant cuisines of our world.
Japanese cuisine is a picture of diversity and exquisite taste. It differs from any other by its minimalistic nature, neat portioning and unusual combinations of flavors. The typical ingredients are sticky or crumbly rice, seaweed, mushrooms, soy, wasabi and a great choice of seafood, such as salmon, tuna, eel, shellfish or shrimps.
According to Japanese tradition, only fresh and eco-friendly products can be used for cooking, while the main goal of a chef is to preserve the original taste of ingredients. No salt is put into dishes, and all the appetizing flavors are added by spices and seaweed.
Sushi and rolls are some of the most versatile and dishes you can find in Japanese cuisine - delicious Philadelphia with cream cheese, tiny delicate Hosomaki in nori wrap with cucumber, tuna or salmon filling, exquisite Tamago-makki with Japanese omelette inside, piquant Futomaki made of tuna and onions - are just some of the dishes that comes to mind.
